TOUR DESCRIPTION
Don’t like travelling on a boat? This is a trip for you. Land based program at Galapagos by Voxi Travel. The five day Magic of Isabela program focuses on Isabela Island, the “Lost Paradise” of the Galapagos, and Santa Cruz Island. You will be taken through the most incredible environments found within the Galapagos, from the awesome moonlike volcanic landscape of Sierra Negra Volcano to the natural habitat of the Giant Tortoises in the Highlands of Santa Cruz. Along the way you will encounter the wonderful and unique animals that make the Galapagos Islands such a magical and unforgetable place.
Day 1 – Baltra Airport, Flamingo Lagoon, Isabela
Our Voxi Travel English speaking guide will be waiting for you at the airport in Baltra, who will take you to the port of Puerto Ayora (Santa Cruz Island) for lunch. Afterwards, we will take the public speedboat to Isabela, which lasts approximately two and a half hours. After arriving at Isabela, we will take a brief rest at the hotel and then head to the Flamingo Lagoon, which is the largest coastal lagoon found in the Galapagos and is one of the main reproductive sites for the majority of flamingos.
Day 2 – Sierra Negra Volcano, Chico Volcano, Concha Perla (B)
Early in the morning after breakfast, we will have a full day tour of the Sierra Negra Volcano. This volcano is located 13 miles from Puerto Villamil and is the world’s second largest volcanic crater, measuring 6 miles in diameter and 300 feet deep. We will hike the crater and enjoy the view of the beach below before continuing on to Volcan Chico, a still active volcano which warms the surrounding ground. In the afternoon, we will return to the hotel and later we will have the opportunity to go snorkeling in Concha Perla, where we will ba able to swim with sea-lions and see a variety of colorful fish, starfish, and sea urchins.
Day 3 – Giant Tortoise Breeding Center, Isabela (B)
Early in the morning, we will take the public speedboat from Isabela to Puerto Ayora, where the guide will be waiting for us in order to take a breakfast and check in at the hotel. Immediately, we will begin our visit to the Highlands of Santa Cruz Island. In this place we can enjoy a wonderful visit to see giant turtles in their natural habitat. After lunch in the highlands, we will return to Puerto Ayora and go to the Charles Darwin Research Station. Here we will have the grand opportunity to see Lonesome George, the last Galapagos turtle of its species, and learn about the ongoing efforts to rehabiliate the tortoise populations throughout the Galapagos Islands.
Day 4 – Santa Cruz, the Twins, Baltra (B)
After breakfast, we will travel to Baltra Airport, but on the way we will stop by “The Twins” (a.k.a. “The Gemelos”), which are similar to craters, but formed by a collapse of the Earth because of the lava flows that passed below it. We will also pass through an escalecia forest, where it will be possible to encounter Galapagos Fly-Catchers and other endemic birds. The tour will end upon the arrival to the airport where you will return to Quito or Guayaquil.
Extended version – 5 day program – Santa Cruz Island

Day 3 – Giant Tortoise Breeding Center, Tintoreras Islet (B)
After breakfast, we will visit the Tintores Islet; It is called this due to a large crevice with very clear, calm water in which white-tip sharks known as “tintoreras” come daily to rest on the bottom. As a ¨Tintorera¨ we will also have the chance to watch other animals native to the region like penguins, and sea lions, and go snorkeling with sharks. On the afternoon we visit Humedales Complex inluding The Giant Tortoise Breeding Center, the famous “Muro de las Lágrimas”, the enormous lava rocks wall built during the times Isabella Island was designated as a penal colony (1946 to 1959) . Additionally, we will visit “Mirador Orchidia” and el “estero de Isabela”.
Day 4 – Santa Cruz, Charles Darwin Research Station (B)
Early in the morning, we will take the public speedboat from Isabela to Puerto Ayora, where the guide will be waiting for us to take breakfast and check in at the hotel. Immediately, we will begin our visit to the Highlands of Santa Cruz Island. In this place we can enjoy a wonderful visit to see giant tortoises in their natural habitat. After lunch in the Highlands, we will return to Puerto Ayora and go to the Charles Darwin Research Station and its interpretive Center. Here we will have the great opportunity to see a large variety of Giant Galápagos tortoises as representatives to the most important islands on the archipelago.
Day 5 – Santa Cruz, the Twins, Baltra (B)
