TOUR DESCRIPTION
Chile is a land of extraordinary beauty and diversity. It stretches thousands of miles from one end to the other, from arid, rain-starved desert in the north to the icy glaciers of the south. In between these two extremes is a land with beautiful lakes and forests, volcanoes, beaches, glaciers, fjords and some fine colonial buildings in pleasant cities and towns. It is a perfect country for both relaxing and some serious activities. Come with us, and discover the country´s charm.
Day 1 – Santiago de Chile
Welcome at Santiago airport and transfer to selected hotel. In the afternoon, city tour in Santiago, beginning with the historic downtown district, visiting Main Square, Cathedral, Post Office Headquarters, and Santiago City Hall. We will also see the Government House “La Moneda”. Then, we will take you to East Santiago, where you may appreciate modern buildings, with offices, apartments, shopping centers, and restaurants. Return to hotel and overnight.
Day 2 – Valparaiso and Viña del Mar (B)
Breakfast in the hotel. Today we enjoy a full-day tour to the coastal cities of Viña del Mar and Valparaiso, driving through the Curacavi and Casablanca valleys. In Viña del Mar, known as the Garden City, we will visit the Quinta Vergara Amphitheater, San Martin and Peru Avenues by the ocean side. We will drive by a beautiful flower clock that shows the local time. We continue to Valparaiso, admiring the colorful neighborhoods in the traditional hills of this port city. Visit to Victory Square, Yugoslav and Atkinson corridor and Sotomayor square. We end at the port, with an optional 30-minute sailing tour. Return to Santiago and overnight.
Day 3 – Santiago – Calama (B)
Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to Santiago airport for flight to Calama in the Atacama Desert. Reception at El Loa airport in Calama. Transfer to San Pedro de Atacama, via Domeyko Mountain Range. In the afternoon, excursion to Moon Valley, passing through the Salt Mountain Range. Visit the great sand dunes, the amphitheater, and the natural salt monument “Las Tres Marias”. This excursion concludes enjoying a magical sunset, with a privileged view of the valley. Return to San Pedro. Overnight.
Day 4 – Atacama Desert (B)
Breakfast in the hotel. Excursion to the high plain lagoons of Miscanti and Miñiques. Lunch in Socaire. Transfer to the Atacama Salt Flat to visit the Chaxa Lagoon, and Flamingos National Reserve, to observe three out of the six different kinds of flamingos existing in the world. Trip continues to the town of Toconao, to visit San Lucas Church, and Campanario Tower. Return to San Pedro. Overnight.
Day 5 – Atacama Desert – El Tatio Geysers (B)
Early in the morning, excursion to El Tatio Geysers, the world’s highest geyser field, which erupts each day at dawn, creating unusual mineral formations and spouting high clouds of steam. Trekking to observe various geothermal activities. A light breakfast will be served. You will then have the opportunity to bathe in a pool of thermal waters. Return to San Pedro, visiting the village of Machuca, formerly devoted to grazing llamas and today known for its adobe, cactus wood, and straw buildings and its Andean handicraft products. In the afternoon, visit to Cejar Lagoon, located in the heart of the Atacama Salt Flat, with such a high concentration of salt and lithium that it makes floating easier than on the Dead Sea. You may bathe, swim, and float amidst a beautiful landscape. Return to hotel. Overnight.
Day 6 – Calama – Santiago – Puerto Montt (B)
Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to the airport for flight to Puerto Montt, via Santiago. Reception at Puerto Montt airport and transfer to Puerto Varas. Overnight.
Day 7 – Excursion to Peulla (B)
Breakfast in the hotel. Excursion toward Ensenada, bordering Lake Llanquihue. Visit to Petrohue River Waterfalls, followed by a boat tour through the emerald waters of Lake All Saints en route to Peulla, enjoying a panoramic view of Osorno, Puntiagudo, and Tronador Volcanoes. Lunch included. Return to Puerto Varas. Overnight.
Day 8 – Chiloe Island (B)
Breakfast in the hotel. Crossing of Chacao Channel by ferry to the mythical island of Chiloe, distinguished by its maritime activity, its churches named Heritage of Mankind, and its festivities. Lunch included. In the afternoon, return to Puerto Varas. Overnight.
Day 9 – Puerto Montt – Punta Arenas (B)
Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to Puerto Montt airport for flight to Punta Arenas. Reception and transfer to the city. Overnight.
Day 10 – Punta Arenas – Puerto Natales (B)
Breakfast in the hotel. In the morning, we sail through the Magellan Strait towards Magdalena Island. Disembark on the island to interact with the largest colony of Magellan Penguins. Return to Punta Arenas. Afternoon transfer by bus service to Puerto Natales (250 km). Overnight.
Day 11 – Torres del Paine National Park (B)
Breakfast in the hotel. Excursion to Torres del Paine, visiting the Cave of the Milodon, where they discovered well-preserved remains of this prehistoric herbivore that existed 12,000 years ago. From here, journey will continue into Torres del Paine National Park, where we will visit Nordenskjold Lake, Pehoe Lake, and Salto Grande. Lunch. Trekking through a forest of lenga trees towards a viewpoint of Grey Glacier, with its impressive ice floes. Afterward, visit to Amarga Lagoon and return to Puerto Natales. Overnight.
Day 12 – Perito Moreno Glacier (B)
Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to El Calafate in Argentina (320 km) and excursion to Perito Moreno glacier with box-lunch and entrance fees to National Park included. Return to Puerto Natales and overnight.
Day 13 – Punta Arenas – Santiago (B)
Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to Punta Arenas airport by bus line for flight back to Santiago. Reception at Santiago airport and transfer to hotel. (Optional: Farewell dinner at a typical Chilean restaurant with folk music and dances
Day 14 – Santiago (B)
Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to Santiago airport for international flight at scheduled time. End of our services.
