Day 2 – Mexico City (B)
You start with a half day tour of Mexico City downtown area (Zocalo), including visits to the National Palace (with its famous Diego Rivera’s murals), Metropolitan Cathedral, and Templo Mayor (from the outside). You will admire some of the most beautiful colonial facades such as those of the Mining Palace, the Communications Palace, and the Mailing Palace; also the wonderful facade of the Palace of Fine Arts. This tour also includes the visit to the extraordinary National Museum of Anthropology, with its rich collections of pre-Hispanic art. We will have the opportunity of admiring some of its most interesting rooms. Return to hotel follows, with afternoon at leisure.

Day 3 – San Juan Teotihuacan (B)
After breakfast drive to San Juan Teotihuacan for a visit to this imposing archaeological site. Our visit includes the Road of the Dead, the Citadel, the Temple of Quetzalpapalotl, as well as the famous pyramids of the Sun and Moon. On the way back to the city, we will stop at the Shrine of Guadalupe, considered as their holy patroness by large segments of the population in Mexico and Central America. Return to hotel with rest of afternoon free.

Day 4 – Cuernavaco, Taxco (B)
Breakfast at hotel. Early departure over a modern speedway, down to Cuernavaca, the “City of the Eternal Spring”, which was the summer residence of Conqueror Hernán Cortés and of Emperor Maximilian. After a visit to the continent’s oldest cathedral, a fortress-like solid-stone colonial construction with an ultra modern main altar, we continue into the rugged mountains of Guerrero state, to the quaint silver mining town of Taxco. A sightseeing walk also takes us to the beautiful baroque church of Santa Prisca, with its splendid “churrigueresco” style gilded altarpieces. Time to stroll around the cobbled-stone streets with the opportunity to watch the silversmiths at work. Return to Mexico City in the late afternoon.
